KALAMAZOO, MI – Crews responded to a fire Saturday morning in Kalamazoo at an unoccupied structure.
At approximately 9:18 a.m. on April 23, Kalamazoo Public Safety Department personnel responded to a report of a structural fire in the 700 block of Riverview Drive.
According to the KDPS, smoke was seen coming from the back of the residence when officers arrived.
Firefighters and officers were able to bring the fire under control within 15 minutes and remained on site. The structure was unoccupied and no injuries occurred in the incident, according to KDPS.
The cause of the fire is not yet known and is being investigated by the Office of the Fire Marshal.
The KDPS released a statement reminding people to talk with their family members about a fire escape plan and to practice the plan twice a year.
