6 Budget-Friendly Places to Eat in Downtown Nashville


If you have friends heading to Nashville for a visit, or you’re planning on heading to Broadway, eating out can get expensive. We found a few places to eat that won’t break the bank. For this list, we’ve selected places where a party of four can eat for nearly $100 (which might seem like a bargain in downtown Nashville).

Johnny Cash Bar and BBQ

Opening hours: Monday to Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday to Sunday from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Here, you can find a BBQ plate served with two sides or choose from a Fried Chicken or Nashville Hot Chicken entrée with two sides and a country cookie for $15.99. Side options include macaroni and cheese, green beans, baked beans, mashed potatoes, coleslaw, fries, and more.

Located at 5th and Broad, the Nashville Hot Chicken location offers a meal of your choice of heat level for your chicken with two sides starting at $10. Side options include southern vegetables, fries, baked beans, coleslaw, black-eyed pea salad, and more.

This local barbecue has its largest location in downtown Nashville. Beyond the dining area, they have a huge beer garden out back with tons of seating, games, and a stage for live music. Sandwiches start at $11 with one side, BBQ platters served with two sides start at $16.

Hours: Monday to Friday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Broadway’s only female country artist bar serves up Tex Mex with tacos, salads, fajitas and more. A plate of shrimp tacos is $18 with fries and salsa $10.

Find this local pizzeria in 5th and Broad. Find an assortment of artisan pizzas with local products, five cheese pizza, hot chicken pizza and pepperoni, there is something for everyone. Small pizzas start at $10 and up. Don’t forget to try the cinnamon rolls.

Opening hours: Monday to Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 11 p.m., Friday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

On the first floor, you’ll find fast-casual restaurants with live music that reopened after being vacated in 2014 by Nashville restaurateur Tom Morales. Try the $15 Acme burger or the $20 redneck lo mein with smoked chicken, collard greens, black-eyed peas and andouille sausage.
